The Home of Hot Yoga & Community in York.
Join us for a transformative yoga experience.
Our Beginning
In 2004, during our honeymoon in Thailand, my husband Greg and I survived the Boxing Day tsunami, a life-changing experience that taught us to live fully. Amidst our busy lives running Hedley House Hotel and raising three children, I found solace in power yoga at 37.
“The Yogabomb community is so special. It’s totally welcoming, relaxed, friendly and we always have a really good laugh.”
— Lou, FOUNDER
A 40th birthday gift included a visit to a hot yoga studio in Manchester which sparked a deeper passion for yoga.
Seeing a gap in the market in York, I trained with Yogahaven over six months and, with my PE teaching background, I went on to create Yogabomb, York’s first custom built hot yoga studio in our hotel's basement.
Yogabomb is my sanctuary—yours too, if you need it.
Why Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient practice that uplifts the mind, body, and spirit. Originating from the Sanskrit word for 'Union,' it offers much more than stretching. The Asanas—postures and flowing movements—build strength, flexibility, and improve posture, while also calming the mind through focused breathing.
Benefits of HOT Yoga:
25%
-
Practicing yoga in a heated environment warms up your muscles, allowing for a deeper stretch and improved flexibility. According to a study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, participants in hot yoga classes showed a 25% increase in lower body flexibility compared to those in regular yoga classes.
15%
-
The heat in hot yoga induces sweating, which helps detoxify the body by flushing out toxins. Additionally, the increased heart rate and circulation improve cardiovascular health. A study from the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that hot yoga practitioners experienced a 10% decrease in blood pressure and a 15% improvement in overall heart health.
80%
-
The intense focus required in hot yoga, combined with the meditative breathing techniques, leads to greater mental clarity and reduced stress levels. A survey by the International Journal of Yoga reported that 75% of hot yoga practitioners experienced significant reductions in stress and 80% reported improvements in mental well-being.
